Breakfast and start of the adventure in the picturesque region of Maramures. The people of northwest Maramures are quite mythical, they being the descendants of the Dacians. The independence of the Dacian State was at its utmost during King Decebal, in the 1st century before Christ, prior to the Roman conquest of this territory (by emperor Traian). These mountain communities have always lived on agriculture, and on wood processing during winter. The local handicraft work is based on carved wood; the many churches of the area represent the pattern of wood carving in the XIVth century. The folk costumes have highly intricated embroideries. Passing through Maramures you will have the opportunity to visit the wood churches from Valea Izei, Bogdan Voda, Pasul Prislop, etc. Then comes the visit to the Cheerful Cemetery of Sapanta. Lunch as snacks and journey continued to Campulung; dinner and stay for the night.

The churches are placed in the middle of the monasterial yards, having high and sharp roofs to keep off the snow in winter. Visits to the Moldovita (XIVth c.), Sucevita (XVth c.) and Voronet (XVth c.) monasteries - the last one named 'the Sixtine Chapel' of the east. Lunch and departure to Piatra Neamt.
